Riviera Maya, Mexico (January 3, 2023) – Zapote Bar, the inspired oasis of craft cocktail culture nestled within the ultra-luxury Rosewood Mayakoba resort, is thrilled to announce the debut of its new menu launching January 2024. A captivating tribute to the rich flora, fauna, and folklore of Riviera Maya, Mexico, the new collection led by award-winning Bar Director Joshua Monaghan pays homage to the region's biodiversity and Mayan heritage, promising an unforgettable journey into the heart of the resort’s lush natural surrounds.
Aptly named "Call of the Wild," the menu features themed drinks that artfully blend the verdant beauty of the region's landscapes alongside Mayan legend and folklore. Each cocktail captures the essence of a particular animal that calls Riviera Maya home and reflects a Mayan narrative. This blend of ingredients and storytelling aims to transport guests to the heart of the jungle and immerse them in the magic of the region.
For the second consecutive year, Zapote Bar was proudly ranked #11 on the list of North America’s 50 Best Bars, a testament to its unwavering commitment to exceptional craft and warm hospitality. Under Monaghan, the bar continues to set the standard for inventive cocktails and curated experiences that showcase the unique cultural and natural tapestry of the region.
Highlights from the new ‘Call of the Wild’ menu include:
· Mono (Monkey) Tequila, Sour orange Liquor, Saccharum Peach, Lemon Juice, Celery, Black Lemon, Green Apple, Kiwi, Guava
· Jaguar Michter’s Rye Whiskey, banana syrup, chocolate bitters, pumpkin seeds, oat milk, turmeric
· Colibri (Hummingbird) Lillet Blanc, Aperol, Olive, Lavender, Edible Flowers
Additionally, the new menu features a section of Zapote Classics, Zapote Twists, Fermented Cocktails, Cocktails On-Tap as well as a robust selection of Zero Proof Cocktails. Highlights include:
