Starting from Munich and heading towards Salzburg via a stop at the postcard-worthy town of Gmund am Tegernsee and the beautiful surrounding lake. From there, you’ll pay a visit to the award-winning Gmund Paper Factory—paper so special that it’s used for the envelopes at the Oscars—for an exclusive guided tour. Learn about the traditional techniques used by the factory, whose legacy dates back to 1892, and try your hand at making paper yourself. The morning begins with breakfast and check out at Rosewood Schloss Fuschl before making your way to the quaint pilgrimage town of St. Wolfgang. From here you’ll depart on a spectacular ride on the Schafberg Railway—a historic cogwheel train in operation since 1893—as it chugs up to the summit of Mount Schafberg with a breathtaking backdrop of crystal-clear lakes, lush forests and the snowcapped mountains of the Austrian Lake District. After the train ride, you’ll enjoy a comfortable private transfer to Rosewood Vienna in the center of the city’s Old Town.
