World renowned Scarfes Bar at Rosewood London is partnering with The Lakes Distillery for The Whiskymaker’s Editions ‘Decadence’, to commemorate its remarkable ten-year anniversary.
The limited-edition single malt will have only four hundred and two individually numbered bottles available to purchase on Rosewood London’s website and to be picked up at the bar, embellished with Gerald Scarfe’s caricatures and ten-year anniversary logo and will be available in the bar for £40 a glass.
Scarfes Bar will also be holding an online auction for the number ten bottle, signed by Gerald Scarfe, with the auction running for the ten days prior to the 10th October. All proceeds will be donated to Equal Measures UK, an organisation dedicated to supporting underrepresented and marginalised people in the drinks industry.
The Lakes Distillery prides itself on its focus on flavour creation and design of great quality spirits. Pushing boundaries is in perfect alignment with the open-minded, curious and collaborative approach that Rosewood London carries through its ethos and Scarfes Bar’s drinks menu. ‘Decadence’ was created using a process called ‘élevage’, a modern approach to whisky making used by The Lakes Distillery to nurture the flavours created as the whisky ages. This single malt was influenced by American and European oak Oloroso seasoned casks, complemented with a small number of American Bourbon barrels.
‘Decadence’ is an enchanting fusion of cherry, fruits, and chocolate which perfectly reflects the personality of Scarfes Bar. This sweet, warm, and woody single malt encapsulates aromas of green apples, raisins, polished oak, gentle spices, and citrus with tasting notes of wood spices, butterscotch, rich dark chocolate, figs, dates, orange, and a lingering buttercream finish.
Since its launch a decade ago, the iconic Scarfes Bar has become an exclusive destination renowned for its playful cocktail menus using Gerald Scarfe's caricatures which adorn the walls of the bar and come to life through the cocktail menu. Scarfes Bar and Area Director of Bars Martin Siska have a long-standing partnership with The Lakes Distillery, from listing their expressions in the bar since the very beginning, monthly cocktails, a dedicated cocktail on its yearly menu and activations to celebrate their established relationship over the years. Both brands share affection for the arts, with Scarfes Bar filled with artistic history and The Lakes Distillery partnering with independent artists for its bespoke labels.
The Whiskymaker’s Editions 'Decadence’ will be exclusively available for purchase at £250 on Rosewood London’s website from 10th October, offering whisky enthusiasts a rare opportunity to acquire a treasure towering with joyful layers of taste, aroma, and texture. Within these 402 individually numbered bottles, the essence of Scarfes Bar and The Lakes Single Malt Whisky intertwine, blending creative spirit and boundless imagination. Inspired by the contemporary approach to the craft of whiskymaking, this collaboration is an expression of creative freedom and represents a playground where experience create unparalleled flavours.
Area Director of Bars at Rosewood London, Martin Siska, said “We are honoured to embark on this journey with The Lakes Distillery as we commemorate the momentous ten-year anniversary of Scarfes Bar. It has been an extraordinary experience to create this exquisite, limited-edition bottle, which symbolises the significance of this milestone. Working alongside The Lakes team has been a pleasure, and we look forward to continuing our partnership together in the future.”
The Lakes’ Whiskymaker, Sarah Burgess wanted to portray the spirit of Scarfes Bar through the whisky and said “It has been a privilege to work with Martin and the team as they commemorate 10 years of Scarfes Bar and we wanted to create a whisky that not only reflected its luxurious surroundings but is best shared, shaken or stirred with good friends. A festival of flavour, Decadence is perfect in a cocktail, with dessert, or as a digestif on its own. However, you choose to savour it, we hope you enjoy every drop.”
