PRESS RELEASES
April 08, 2021
On Monday April 12th, Rosewood London will re-launch its terrace for the summer, in partnership with renowned whisky brand The Macallan. The new look terrace is inspired by summers in Scotland and will transform into a luxury riverside boathouse. The terrace will be open for six months and promises to be the ultimate summer oasis for those looking to enjoy long, sun-soaked days and gastronomic experiences al fresco.
The hotel’s iconic Edwardian courtyard will be transformed from a wintery Scottish highland lodge, to a beautifully airy, summer riverside retreat, bringing a taste of the Scottish countryside to the heart of London. The terrace’s walls will be removed to let sunshine flood in, and a flower draped ceiling will adorn the space with willows tumbling downwards from the ceiling’s height. Dappled sunlight will filter through the boathouse, allowing guests to experience the long-awaited pleasure of dining outside in a calm and serene setting.
Taking inspiration from the banks of the River Spey and The Macallan Estate, the terrace itself will be surrounded by luscious grass, soft wildflowers, and delicate Scottish heathers, while the entrance will be flanked with beautiful willow trees creating a natural canopy as guests arrive. Inside will also echo the feeling of summer by the river. Fishing nets and foliage will weave throughout the space, creating an easy-going atmosphere, transporting guests to the Scottish riverside. A rowing boat overflowing with meadow flowers, ivy, ferns, and Scottish irises sets the scene for the perfect photo moment.
As always, Holborn Dining Room will be providing a menu of delicious seasonal dishes for guests to enjoy outside at The Macallan Manor House. These will include: Griddled prawns, lemon, garlic butter; Lamb rump, Jersey royal potatoes, spring vegetables and Paris-Brest, salted caramel, praline.
Guests can look forward to a menu of refreshing drinks, including The Macallan whisky cocktails below:
● Above the River - The Macallan 12, Cocoa, Star Anise, Fever Tree Aromatic Tonic Water
● Double S - The Macallan 12, Guarana Belsazar, Verjus, Drambuie
● Fields of Gold - The Macallan 12, Lillet, Pineapple Shrub
Other drinks served on the terrace will include a selection of wines, beers, and non-alcoholic drinks.
Visitors who take a particular liking to The Macallan Distil Your World London Single Cask whisky will be able to book an exclusive Macallan Suite Experience package whereby they will be able to enjoy a private tasting from the comfort of their own suite and discover The Macallan story with the brand’s very own Ambassador.
