The stylish speakeasy debuts reimagined favorites, creative “zero-waste” cocktails and “wild card” and disco-themed drinks.
March 01, 2022
Lennon’s, Rosewood Bangkok’s stylish bar and lounge that showcases Southeast Asia’s largest assemblage of vinyl LPs, reopens on March 2, 2022, from 6 p.m. until 11 p.m. every Wednesday through Saturday. The sky-high speakeasy retains its whimsical design and tunes from its nostalgic 6,000-album music collection, while also debuting an all-new cocktail menu that is enhanced with an innovative sustainability concept and cheeky salute to hot disco music.
The experience begins from hotel arrival with a VIP elevator whisking guests direct to the 30th floor, where they surreptitiously enter the clubby sanctum through hidden doors tucked behind a wall swathed in original album covers.
The new menu includes “Lennon’s Favorites” – the bar’s beloved drinks that have been reimagined to take on an environmentally friendly vibe, including eliminating typically unconsumed garnishes. These include elevated recipes for the bar’s popular, song-themed libations “Why Need to be Single” by Suraphol Sombatcharoen, “Fly Me to the Moon” by Frank Sinatra and “Woman” by John Lennon.
“The Sound of the Future” new menu category is a visionary approach to libations and sustainability, with unique beverages that reinterpret traditional mixology with a zero-waste sensibility. The cocktail named after “You are the Sunshine of My Life” by Stevie Wonder incorporates a yummy syrup home-made with croissants and baked apples from Rosewood Bangkok’s kitchens. The rum-based Wilfrido Vargas “A Mover La Colita” is infused with a whole banana and specialty Thai coffee from Left Hand Roasters; once the banana has flavored the drink, it is transformed into an edible fruit leather embellishment.
This section is also highlighted by a “wild card” cocktail headlined “Giorgio Moroder” after the Italian composer, songwriter and record producer who was dubbed the "Father of Disco." Inspired by his visionary and pioneering approach to music, each cocktail recipe depends on what excess food products and ingredients are available in the hotel that day, thereby inviting patrons to play their part in reducing food wastage while also delighting in ever-changing, imaginative creations from Lennon’s mixologists.
In addition, Lennon’s celebrates the groovy disco era with new drinks that take guests on worldwide tour of the genre. The Donna Summers “American Disco” is a clarified milk punch with a vibrant hot pink hue; Miki Matsubara’s “Japanese Disco” features delicate Sakura vermouth; Bappi Lahiri’s “Indian Disco” is accented with tamarind and topped with a fragrant curry leaf; and Chantana Kittiyapan’s “Thai Disco” is a tropical cocktail fittingly featuring pineapple, coconut and pandan.
