Create your own personal journeys of discovery and gastronomic experiences.
November 26, 2019
Throughout Rosewood Bangkok visitors are invited to create their own personal journeys of discovery, and perhaps no more so than amongst the gastronomic experiences on offer. Within the hotel’s intimate environs, guests can find a sky-high speakeasy bar, outdoor dining terraces, lively gathering spots and elegant venues; turn towards indulgent Western classics or imaginative healthy cuisine; and pick from menus tailored to satisfy comfort food cravings and deliver on authentic Thai and Chinese recipes. Rosewood Bangkok offers this scope within four innovative restaurant and bar concepts spanning European, Chinese and health-conscious cuisines.
Lakorn European Brasserie is fittingly situated in the lobby as a day-long social and dining magnet. Diners can gather indoors amidst an imaginative décor accented by traditional ornaments worn by Thai dancers, or choose the shady, foliage-filled outdoor terrace. The menu of Western and Thai small plates, to mains and innovative drinks, is carefully curated for every mood and layered with flair. Sliders are flourished with a truffle aioli, lobster is the star ingredient of the bouillabaisse, and dinner features classics such as Beef Cheek Bourguignon, Tournedos Rossini and French Wild Turbot. Thai curries, soups and noodles are lovingly prepared with authentic, time-honored recipes.
In addition to an extensive New and Old World wine list, beers are crafted in partnership with a Cambodian brewery to create special flavor and aroma varieties. Signature coffees and teas are produced by an eight to 12-hour process of extracting flavors from cold brewed coffee beans and tea leaves. This method brings out unique taste sensations, further enhanced by a choice of garnishes and syrups for true bespoke creations.
Nan Bei, meaning South and North respectively in Mandarin, is a vibrant, modern restaurant for Chinese dining, offering regional specialties from the two China regions, in both indoor and outdoor areas. Open kitchens are dedicated to preparation of popular Southern Chinese seafood dishes and world-famous Peking Duck. Premium ingredients and authentic techniques are incorporated, from Hokkaido King Scallops, Australian Wagyu Beef Tenderloin, Bird’s Nest and abalone, to hand-cut and pulled noodles.
Nan Bei’s sleek and seductive bar offers a tongue-in-cheek celebration of modern Asian libations, with tipples such as Claypot Tea Negroni, Yoghurt Pisco Sour with yoghurt sake and lychee, Shiitake-Fashioned with whisky and shiitake mushroom and My Thai with rum, tropical fruit, chili and curry leaves.
Also featured is a menu of specially selected fine whiskies and exquisite Chinese teas to enjoy in tandem, with each member of the duo selected to complement and enhance the liquid marriage.
Nan Bei’s contemporary, elegant design is inspired by the lyrical Chinese folktale of the Weaver Girl and the Cowherd. Legend has it that the Weaver Girl descended from the heavens to bathe in a magical pool, where she met and fell in love with a simple Cowherd. However, her mother disapproved of the union and commanded the girl back to her celestial home. The lovers now can only meet once a year by traversing a bridge in the sky created by magpies.
Nan Bei showcases a dramatic light installation that resembles 600 illuminated magpies in flight, bridge-inspired trusses and a custom-woven art feature that stretches the length of the ceiling -- in homage to the Weaver Girl who weaves clouds for the sky. Two luxurious VIP private dining rooms complement the story with silk wall panels and mirrors referencing the mystical pond where the lovers first met., meaning South and North respectively in Mandarin, is a vibrant, modern restaurant for Chinese dining, offering regional specialties from the two China regions, in both indoor and outdoor areas.
