Overview:
Behind its handsome red-brick facade, Rosewood Washington, D.C. delivers a heightened sense of elegance, intimacy and sophistication; a feeling of being in a most extraordinary and welcoming home. This refined environment is the creation of Peter Silling of Peter Silling & Associates Hotel Interior Design Ltd. Inspired by the history of American architecture, Silling brought the hotel to life by depicting the evolution of this genre. Original contemporary art and furniture are incorporated in juxtaposition to the classic feel of the brownstone building’s industrial exterior. The sophisticated, yet warm and welcoming, design aesthetic reflects both the hotel’s location in Washington, D.C.’s most historic and exclusive neighborhood and an insistence on incorporating only the very finest quality in the hotel’s décor, materials, furnishings and art.

The property is situated alongside the C&O Canal in the heart of Georgetown, one of D.C.’s most historic, renowned and picturesque neighborhoods. Ronald Reagan Airport is approximately 15 minutes by car; Dulles International and Baltimore/Washington International are approximately 45 minutes by car.
A Brief History:
Originally an office building known as the Canal Building, it was constructed in 1963, and was the first major new building constructed in Georgetown in 50 years. The structure was originally designed as a spare, Federalist-style red brick building with small windows. The building was a "first" in a couple of ways. It was the first major new building constructed in Georgetown in the past 50 years, and it was the first new office building constructed in Georgetown in 100 years.
The hotel, which opened in 2013, offers ample privacy, bespoke guest services and a tangible connection to the culture and traditions of the nation’s capital. It was later rebranded as the Rosewood Washington, D.C. in 2016.
Décor:
The renovation plans drawn up by the architectural firms of Mancini Duffy and Peter Silling & Associates. Additional architectural work was provided by Michael Winstanley Architects & Planners. Each guest room features trayed ceilings, cove lighting, millwork manufactured in Europe, hardwood parquet flooring from a demolished French château, and laser-cut marble sinks, tiles, and decorative work. Each Presidential Suite also has a fireplace. Each guest room is unique, with its own color and design scheme and unique furnishings (designed by Silling & Associates). Furnishings in each room includes one-of-a-kind artworks; silk curtains; custom, hand-upholstered furniture; and glass-enclosed rainfall showers. The lobby is designed to look like the living room of a wealthy home, with built-in bookshelves, chandelier, and floor-to-ceiling fireplace.

The pinnacle of luxury and distinction. Bathed in natural light afforded by several over-sized floor-to-ceiling windows, glass-enclosed floor-to-ceiling rainfall shower, luxurious limestone soaking tub and lovely views of the historic C&O Canal or Georgetown. Blending a modern interior design sensibility with classic American traditions and motifs, the graceful room features rich wood furnishings, hardwood floors, luxe drapes and a soft neutral palette accented with timeless pewter and gold. The Rosewood Suite and Presidential Suite are both generously sized, lavishly appointed and distinctively furnished. Separate and generously sized living areas provide an ideal setting for relaxing and entertaining. The spacious bathrooms offer a glass-enclosed floor-to-ceiling rainfall shower, luxurious limestone soaking tub and double vanities. All suites feature HDTV and high-speed Internet access for the guest’s convenience and pleasure.

CUT DC: The most sought-after dining venue in the city, CUT by Wolfgang Puck offers sophisticated and modern design, refined service and a unique take on Wolfgang Puck’s famed CUT concept through a highly evolved vegetable and seafood centric menu. Designed by prolific French architect, interior designer and landscape artist Jacques Garcia, the venue combines essential elements of American architecture with those of European interiors to produce a refined yet relaxed setting that invites guests to return time and time again. Both the menu and design draw inspiration from the surrounding Georgetown neighborhood and reflect the unique spirit and sensibility of the Washington metropolitan area.
CUT Bar & Lounge: The bar and lounge offer a perfectly calibrated atmosphere of relaxed sophistication. An open space area features an impressive bottle display as its focal point, boasting 2,500 bottles from around the world, complemented by a raw seafood glass counter that showcases delicacies from the Chesapeake Bay and other local providers.
CUT Above: Set against the capital city’s iconic skyline, the hotel’s rooftop bar and lounge CUT Above is the ideal destination for al fresco entertaining for both hotel guests and to the public. Outfitted with plush and modern lounge furniture, the rooftop oasis offers an abbreviated menu of elevated bar fare and refreshing cocktails.
