New York, NY – October 9, 2020 – The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel is thrilled to announce its reopening on Monday, November 2, just in time to celebrate the hotel’s 90th anniversary. Originally opened in November 1930, the art deco gem has since been an adored institution located on Madison Avenue and 76th street in the heart of Manhattan’s elegant Upper East Side. Home to the celebrated Café Carlyle and the legendary Bemelmans Bar, The Carlyle offers visitors a whimsical experience into an undefinable era of glamour. Additionally, the property is nearing completion of an almost three-year guest room renovation and looks forward to revealing the reimagination with its guests.
“We are delighted to reopen The Carlyle’s doors and welcome back our beloved guests, residents and the community,” said Anthony McHale, managing director of The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel. “The Carlyle has always had an almost indescribable authentic and eclectic quality, and we are thrilled to bring the hotel back to life just in time to celebrate our 90th anniversary. Rest assured, our team has been working diligently during our closure to introduce new protocols and procedures to keep everyone at the hotel safe and healthy as we enter this new world of travel,” added McHale.
At this time, The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel will take a phased reopening approach and will not be resuming dining operations until further notice. This includes Bemelmans Bar, Café Carlyle, The Gallery and The Carlyle Restaurant.
Upon reopening, the hotel’s 189 guestrooms and suites will operate in accordance with the guidelines put in place by the local, state and national authorities, as well as with Rosewood Hotel Group’s brand-wide health and safety program, Commitment to Care. Guided by leading health experts including the World Health Organization (WHO) and third-party partners at Ecolab and Diversey, Commitment to Care offers heightened standards for safety and sanitation to ensure the well-being of guests, associates, and the community at large. This includes the increased cleaning and disinfecting of common areas and

All associates will undergo mandatory health and safety training and receive personal protective equipment to be worn while on property, and guest rooms will be equipped with personal care kits comprised of face masks, hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes to be used as guests’ discretion. Additionally, The Carlyle will cater to the individual preferences of each guest with alternative, contactless options for check-in and check-out and housekeeping services, ensuring the maximum level of comfort and safety.
