Marc Pottier, French, based between Brazil and France, is an international curator of contemporary art, specialized in art in public spaces. He is also involved with cultural digital platforms, television, and webtv.
Since 2012, he has been involved in the Matarazzo project, contributing to the book of interviews 'Made by... Feito por Brasileiros,' curating the creative invasion at the former Matarazzo hospital in 2014, and curating the permanent art collections at Rosewood / Matarazzo.
Today, he is the curator of Usina de Arte, a sculpture park near Recife, a member of the Curatorial Board at MON (Oscar Niemeyer Museum) in Curitiba, and the international coordinator for the future Museum of Contemporary Art in Foz do Iguaçu, in collaboration with the Centre Pompidou.
Since 2012, the projects carried out at the former Matarazzo hospital have continued to honor 'the many Brazils.' Brazil is highly composed and offers an exceptional variety of different cultures from north to south, creating the various facets of the country. That's why the choice of invited artists at Rosewood, with 90% being Brazilian artists, aims to showcase these riches, from Indigenous Art of indigenous tribes to representatives of Afro-descendants, street artists, and the funk culture of the peripheries. This project also pays tribute to ecological issues. We have worked with the concern for a balance between male and female artists, younger artists alongside established artists, to give voice to them. From the street to the hotel entrance, elevators, corridors, pool tiles, carpets, and chapel stained glass windows, everything is created by artists with permanent works. The Rosewood / Matarazzo is a temple dedicated to the best of Brazilian creativity.
