Arne Quinze is a contemporary Belgian artist, painter, and sculptor. His work ranges from abstract oil paintings to massive metal installations in public spaces around the world. Through his work, he seeks to engage viewers in conversations and ultimately encourage them to reconnect with their earthly roots, showcasing the divine beauty of nature.
The inspiration for all of Arne Quinze's works comes from the field of wildflowers he planted in the garden of his studio, where he can study the architectural growth of thousands of plants and flowers throughout the seasons. Each of Arne Quinze's works portrays the strength and, at the same time, the fragility of his wildflower garden. He seeks to show the beauty that exists in the diversity of nature and hopes to inspire viewers to live in harmony with the earth and all its treasures.
The story of Arne Quinze reveals a world where the Earth once flourished like a true Garden of Eden, beautifully balanced in every way. However, an unprecedented meteor from outer space fell to Earth. It brought with it extraterrestrial DNA that later gave rise to humanity as we know it today. This alien genetic code disrupted the delicate balance by accepting and not reciprocating, causing a worrying imbalance in the system.
In this tale, Quinze takes on the persona of an alien and is tasked with restoring Earth's balance, showcasing the beauty of the natural world in his work.
Rosewood's artwork: Brazil Emerald Lupin, Aluminum Sculpture
The Brazil Emerald Lupin is installed at Cidade Matarazzo in São Paulo. The Brazil Emerald Lupin is the result of the artist's research into the beauty of nature, stemming from the observation that we, as a society, have lost touch with nature and ended up in a hyper-artificial society. Through his work, the artist calls for the restoration of the balance between nature and society, drawing attention to the power and diversity found in nature, leading to a unique visual language.
The pronounced rough character of these sculptures, which Quinze achieved by sculpting with a digger, reflects the immense power that nature displays throughout its evolutionary growth. Besides this brute force, nature also always manages to show its beauty in a stunning visual manner, which is evidenced by the elaborate almost folded paper-like fragility of the artist's sculptures.
The sculpture has a monochromatic appearance yet assimilates with its surroundings. The green color showcases the immense power that Brazil Emerald and the Amazon, the green lung of our planet, exhibit. Due to the changing sunlight, the shades of green tend to vary. A spectral array of soft color changes, frequently observed in natural phenomena, is addressed by the artist's unique layering and engraving technique.
For the creation of these works, the artist found an ally in Lupines. A historic wildflower that grows luxuriantly in nature but goes extinct where monoculture begins. The abstraction of the visual character of the lupine by the artist leads to the propagation of a powerful message of diversity.
With Brazil Emerald Lupin, the artist wants to encourage us to question our current mineral society and make room for the wonderful added value that nature can bring us.
