September 20, 2023
Rosewood Hotels & Resorts® is proud to announce that three properties from the portfolio have been recognized in the new global ranking of The World’s 50 Best Hotels 2023. The newest and first travel-specific accolade from 50 Best – one of hospitality's most respected credentialing bodies – has named Rosewood Hong Kong, Rosewood São Paulo, and Hôtel de Crillon, A Rosewood Hotel among the most outstanding hotel and resort experiences globally. Rosewood Hong Kong impressively ranked at number two on the overall list, earning the distinction of “The Best Hotel in Asia.” Rosewood São Paulo ranked at number 27 and was named “The Best Hotel in South America.” Hôtel de Crillon, A Rosewood Hotel earned the distinguished designation of number 50, rounding out an amazing performance by the ultra-luxury hospitality leader.
For over 20 years, the 50 Best organization has been revered as a trusted resource for recognizing the top dining and drinking destinations with The World’s 50 Best Restaurants and The World’s 50 Best Bars. The organization’s first new global ranking since 2009, The World's 50 Best Hotels list emerged this year as a way to celebrate and support hotels, resorts, and the wider hospitality industry, with the hope of inspiring travelers to pursue the pinnacle of luxury around the world. These latest accolades have been bestowed by 580 international travel authorities, each selected for their profound awareness of and expertise in the industry.
“It is humbling to have three of our Rosewood hotels and resorts included on the inaugural list of The World’s 50 Best Hotels,” says Radha Arora, President of Rosewood Hotels & Resorts. “A refined collection of properties, each of which immerses guests in global culture, this list showcases the true purpose and power of our industry in curating moving and meaningful experiences. Rosewood Hong Kong, Rosewood São Paulo and Hôtel de Crillon, A Rosewood Hotel were designed to facilitate this very kind of transformative travel, and their recognition by 50 Best is hugely gratifying for our entire team.”
As the flagship of the Rosewood Hotels & Resorts brand, Rosewood Hong Kong has cemented itself as an iconic fixture of the city’s skyline since opening its doors in 2019. Recognized at number two on the total list of the World’s 50 Best Hotels the property has proudly accepted the accolade of “The Best Hotel in Asia.” The ultra-luxury hotel has captured the attention of a global audience through its meticulous growth over the past four years, with exceptional amenities and services supported by thoughtful programming. Located in the heart of the Victoria Dockside arts and design district on the shores of Victoria Harbour, the vertical estate offers 413 distinctive rooms, suites, and signature suites, including Harbour House, one of the largest accommodations in the city. Other lavish amenities include eleven diverse restaurants and lounges accentuated by the Michelin-starred restaurant CHAAT, as well as recreational facilities including Asaya, an outdoor infinity pool, a state-of-the-art fitness center, and much more.
Now recognized as “The Best Hotel in South America,” Rosewood São Paulo is one of the Rosewood brand’s most recent debuts. A biophilic marvel located within Cidade Matarazzo – the hotel is a complex of elegantly preserved buildings from the early 20th century converted into a mixed-use destination in the heart of the city. Surrounded by beautiful gardens and lush greenery, the property is a love letter to Brazil. Locally influenced offerings include an array of sophisticated culinary outlets, complete with a jazz bar, and leisure amenities, ranging from two outdoor pools to the soon-to-open Asaya, Rosewood’s integrative well-being concept. Rosewood São Paulo has also been lauded for its commitment to sustainability, from both an environmental and cultural perspective. The property has sourced all materials locally since its inception, furthering its connection to local culture while celebrating and supporting the community and its providers. It has also been designed to operate on 100% renewable energy and uses responsible waste management processes. Perhaps most meaningful, Rosewood São Paulo has put several initiatives in place to empower the local community, including a focus on recruiting talent from underserved groups, collaborating with local businesses, and investing in the growth of its associates.
Fronted by the majestic architecture of Ange-Jacques Gabriel, Hôtel de Crillon, A Rosewood Hotel is a premier example of Rosewood Hotels & Resorts’ passion for reimagining historical spaces. Overlooking the spectacular Place de la Concorde, one of the most beautiful city squares in the world, the hotel was originally built at Louis XV’s request and became the residence of the illustrious Count de Crillon and his family for many years before being transformed into a hotel in 1909 under the guidance of architect Walter-André Destailleur.
Since then, the landmark has welcomed world leaders, creative luminaries, and intrepid travelers from across the globe, all attracted to the hotel’s unique and perennial reputation for excellence. Hôtel de Crillon has long since secured its iconic status as a one-of-a-kind property, a living testament to the special joie de vivre that France has to offer. Following a four-year transformation, the hotel reopened in 2017 as part of the Rosewood brand with 124 guestrooms and suites, four restaurants and bars, a subterranean swimming pool and fitness center, three heritage landmark salons for meetings and functions, and Sense, A Rosewood Spa. Notably, the property’s culinary landscape has recently experienced a thoughtful evolution with the 2023 openings of Nonos & Comestibles by celebrated chef Paul Pairet and Butterfly Patisserie, Rosewood’s signature patisserie concept.
The diverse range of properties from the Rosewood collection that are recognized on The World’s 50 Best Hotels list emphasizes the integrity and resonance of the brand’s ethos of A Sense of Place®. This foundational philosophy ensures that each Rosewood hotel and resort reflects and celebrates the destination in which it sits, ultimately providing guests with a meaningful opportunity to immerse themselves in local culture and community. As the brand continues its thoughtful growth and expansion, A Sense of Place continues to inform each and every new experience, cementing Rosewood as top of mind for today’s travelers.
