Storyteller extraordinaire, Tiao Somsanith Nithakhong spent his childhood between Luang Prabang and Vientiane, studying classical Lao art, music and dance until 1976. After years of exile in France, Nith returned in 2002 to devote his time to passing on vanishing traditions like stenciling, floral temple offerings, Lao puppet theater and gold & silver thread embroidery, an intricate endeavor he calls ‘pure meditation.’
Living by a mantra of ‘showing is sharing,’ Nith exclusively invites Rosewood Luang Prabang guests to spend a few hours conversing with and learning from this master of Laos’ lost heritage. If your visit with us falls on a Sunday, join Nith’s open house where young Lao students gather to practice traditional Lao music and dance in his palm shaded garden.
