Opening Today, the Iconic Resort Introduces St. Barth’s Newest Dining Destination and Social Hub
November 16, 2021
Following a four-year reimagination, Rosewood Le Guanahani St. Barth opens today to unveil Beach House St. Barth, the resort’s new culinary concept which invites travelers on an immersive, multisensory journey that draws inspiration from St. Barth’s French and Caribbean influences. Helmed by Executive Chef Riccardo Schievano and Beverage Manager Bob Louison, Beach House and its accompanying Bar Mélangé showcase local and regional traditions in food and beverage to foster deepened connection with the destination’s unique heritage. It has been conceived as the social hub and heart of the resort and is poised to become the gathering place of choice for resort guests, visiting travelers and residents of the island alike.
Occupying a newly built, open-air enclave, Beach House St. Barth delivers an array of distinct dining experiences, each of which offers breathtaking views of the neighboring Maréchal Bay and Grand Cul-de-Sac Lagoon and exudes a comfortable and welcoming ambiance that makes guests feel at home. Taking inspiration from the way in which one would dine when visiting the private home of a dear friend or family member, Beach House is comprised of separate spaces that welcome guests for the different mealtimes, dependent on the time of day.
For breakfast, the indoor dining area offers a casual yet chic environment for guests to get the day started while midday, a freshly prepared lunch can be enjoyed atop the sand and under the palm trees. At dinnertime, the open kitchen and indoor dining area brings in warm, sunset-toned hues for a more upscale evening meal. Connected by an overarching design scheme and thoughtful flow, each area is set apart by unique decorative elements and alternating textures such as vinyl woven panels, sheer draperies, mahogany wood and marbled stone, all of which create a harmonious balance that emanates the new luxury resort’s French-Caribbean spirit.
Across the special spaces, guests will enjoy an array of Mediterranean-inspired cuisine. Mezze-style sharing plates offer unexpected combinations of bold flavors and fresh ingredients that showcase regional specialties from Southern Europe, with subtle nods to those of Northern Africa. For Executive Chef Riccardo Schievano, a good dish is made with passion, quality ingredients and of course, a touch of creativity. Guests of Rosewood Le Guanahani can expect to find a menu featuring fresh catches of the day, plentiful vegetables and a variety of aromatic herbs. In keeping with Rosewood Hotels & Resorts® Partners in Provenance commitment – born out of respect for local farmers, indigenous agriculture and a dedication to delivering the highest quality foods – Beach House St. Barth showcases the essence of St. Barth through locally and seasonally sourced fare.
Using his motto that “every plate has a story to tell,” Schievano’s dishes are trademarked by the natural bounties of St. Barth, including fish and seafood from the island’s dedicated fisherman, herbs and vegetables from La Main Verte Bay, honey from the St. Barth Bee Farm, coffee from St. Barth’s Coffee and Martino chocolate from Guadeloupe. Menu highlights include BBQ octopus paired with sundried tomatoes, watermelon and burrata cheese; marinated sardines served with roasted bread, bresaola and cream cheese; farm chicken shoulder, made with a fermented beer reduction; and mahi mahi cooked in a Caribbean tandoori style.
Beach House St. Barth is complemented by Bar Mélangé’s refined menu of wines, barrel-aged cocktails and impressive library of vintage spirits. An oceanfront oasis, Bar Mélangé anchors the corner of Rosewood Le Guanahani’s pool and deck, and during the day uses the island’s natural beauty as the focal point to further evoke Rosewood’s guiding A Sense of Place® philosophy, wherein the local sensibilities of the destination inspire the resort's offerings. In the evening, the bar’s indoor lounge becomes the ultimate destination for guests to be immersed in the refined art of cocktail making in an intimate and ambient setting.
In addition to Beach House, Rosewood Le Guanahani’s culinary program offers a range of bespoke, private dining options. Highlights range from a carefully curated picnic lunch for guests to enjoy while exploring the island’s hiking trails or lounging along the beach, to a multi-course candlelit dinner under the stars, to a family-style supper at the sand’s edge. In-room dining is also available 24 hours a day, offering a dedicated breakfast selection, comprehensive assortment of health-conscious choices, and an overnight light bites menu.
