Karolina Karlsson
Vibrant Expressions of the Human Form and Island Life
Karolina is a Swedish-American artist based in St. Barths and New York, with exhibitions at Saatchi Gallery (Focus Art Fair London), Spectrum Art Fair (Miami Art Week), Maison Pelican (St. Barths), and her Manhattan studio.
Inspired by the human form, food, and minimalist patterns, she explores proportion to create aesthetically striking designs with subtle yet vibrant colors, balancing playful imagery with a modest tone.
Karolina began painting in 2020 during the first lockdown, after swapping banana bread for a painting kit. Women and weather inspire her work, with each piece reflecting both the subject and the climate in which it was painted.
Her "Deconstructed Bodies" series, born in St. Barths, features animated figures, fruits (especially eggplants), and bold colors—a nod to countless afternoons spent at Eden Rock, sketching by the sea with margaritas and acai bowls in hand.
