Dvis Dformes
Crafting Nature from Engine Parts and Metal
Dvis Dformes, originally trained as a mechanic, was later introduced to the art of welding, a skill that has allowed him to transform his technical expertise into captivating works of art. Using engine parts and other mechanical components, he creates dynamic, three-dimensional sculptures that draw inspiration from his environment in Saint Barthélemy.
His creations often depict animals native to the island, including dogs, horses, turtles, and iguanas. Each piece is a unique representation of the local wildlife, crafted with a distinctive industrial flair. The combination of engine parts with the natural world results in sculptures that are both modern and organic, showcasing Dvis's ability to merge craftsmanship with creativity.
Living and working in Saint Barthélemy, Dvis Dformes continues to explore new themes and ideas through his welding artistry, pushing the boundaries of mechanical sculpture while staying deeply connected to the island that inspires him. His works are not just mechanical creations; they are vivid expressions of life and nature, seen through the lens of an artist’s eye and a mechanic’s hands.
