Rosewood Kauri Cliffs will be a perfect setting for a Winter Wine Weekend, August 23-25, featuring an outstanding selection of iconic and rare Penfolds wines, hosted by the inimitable Peter Gago.
A Special Bin themed Masterclass tasting and a memorable 5-course “tasting menu” dinner, where each sublime course will be matched to the very best of Penfolds wines, will be part of this not-to-be-missed occasion, hosted by Penfolds’ own Peter Gago.
The British-Australian winemaker and author has been Chief Winemaker at Penfolds and custodian of Penfolds Grange since 2002. In his role as Chief Winemaker, Gago leads production of some of the world's most iconic wines, including the undisputed champion of Australian wine, Grange.
Gago was named 2005 Winemaker of the Year by Wine Enthusiast Magazine and 2012 Winemakers’ Winemaker of the Year by The Institute of Masters of Wine and international trade publication The Drinks Business. And these are just a few of the many accolades he’s received the world over.
The weekend at Rosewood Kauri Cliffs begins with a Friday evening cocktail reception and “meet and greet" with Peter Gago, before guests enjoy a relaxed dinner at their leisure in the lodge. Saturday morning will see Gago host a tutored wine tasting, taking wine enthusiasts through a line up of Special Bin Penfolds wines, including 2004 Bin 60A and the 2018 Superblend 802-B.
Saturday evening will be a true highlight - a five course tasting menu prepared by Rosewood Kauri Cliffs culinary team, matched to such iconic wines as Penfolds Yattarna, and not one but two vintages of Grange.
