NEWS RELEASE
January 26, 2024
Kona Village, A Rosewood Resort announces the appointment of Daniel Scott as Regional Vice President and Managing Director. A Rosewood Hotels & Resorts® veteran of two decades, Daniel brings a wealth of experience to the role as a seasoned hotelier and transformational leader within the organization. In addition to overseeing daily operations at Kona Village, Daniel continues his current role as Regional Vice President, with operational oversight of The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel, Rosewood Washington, D.C., and Rosewood Baha Mar.
Daniel joins Kona Village from Mexico’s Rosewood Mayakoba, where he was a key pillar of the Riviera Maya community and a champion for the resort’s associates. A true innovator, Daniel has been integral in establishing Rosewood Mayakoba’s status as a leader in luxury and advocate for positive social impact.
“Daniel is an embodiment of the brand’s commitment to relationship hospitality, connection to place, and our ability to curate transformative experiences,” said Joerg Zobel, Chief Operating Officer, Rosewood Hotel Group. “He has consistently created brand-led customer experiences and paved the way for those around him to make a meaningful difference in our communities. As such he is the perfect person to continue to guide Kona Village, A Rosewood Resort.” |
Daniel has dedicated his career to Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, having joined the company in 2003, and quickly rising through the ranks. Throughout his career, he has developed meaningful leadership skills and a deep understanding of the luxury hospitality industry. His tenure with the brand has included leadership positions across several properties within the United States, Mexico and Caribbean, including Rosewood Sand Hill and Las Ventanas al Paraíso, A Rosewood Resort.
Given Daniel’s purpose-driven approach to luxury hospitality, he is a natural leader to Kona Village’s ‘ohana of associates. In 2017, he co-founded Centro Educativo K’iin Beh, a school built for the children of Rosewood Mayakoba employees and the local community. Located 15 minutes from the resort, K’iin Beh now welcomes over 500 students and offers bilingual, full-time education at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. The creation of the school reflects not only Rosewood Mayakoba’s but also Daniel’s commitment to the well-being and success of hotel staff and the surrounding community. This initiative aligns with the brand’s overarching Rosewood Impacts vision, which seeks to create an ecosystem where people and place enrich one another. Since Kona Village’s opening in July 2023, the resort has set a standard for sustainability and embraced the rich culture and history of its sacred shores.
“I am incredibly humbled to be joining the team at Kona Village, A Rosewood Resort, one of the world’s most storied escapes,” said Daniel Scott. “The property itself is profoundly special and means so much to so many, and I consider it both an honor and a privilege to work alongside the associates who have so lovingly brought it back to life—and to continue to tell its story for years to come.” |
About Kona Village, A Rosewood Resort
Kona Village, A Rosewood Resort, is an iconic hideaway rooted in Hawaiian legacy, where the rhythm mirrors the slow, rolling waves along the secluded Kahuwai Bay. Immersed in the moʻolelo (stories) of the Native Hawaiians who came before, this ancient fishing village upholds their long-etched values, carrying a deep commitment to ʻohana (family) with profound Hawaiian hoʻokipa (hospitality of complete giving). Spanning 81 acres of stunning geologic landscape on the Kona Coast, this reimagined classic channels inspiration from the land’s storied history, local sensibilities, and natural elements to illuminate the ancient Kaʻūpūlehu’s past, present, and future. Every element of the property has been carefully curated to celebrate the quintessential elements of the original Kona Village Resort that made it so beloved and to demonstrate a profound connection to and appreciation of the habitat and heritage of its one-of-a-kind location. Spearheaded by Hawaiʻi-raised architect, Greg Warner of Walker Warner Architects, and designed by San Francisco-based interior design firm, NICOLEHOLLIS, these offerings include 150 traditional guest hale; five restaurants and bars, including the original resort’s beloved Shipwreck and Talk Story bars; and Asaya Spa, Rosewood’s integrative wellness concept designed to support mind, body, and soul. A commitment to sustainability is evident throughout the property. The resort is powered 100% by solar energy, and several buildings have been designed for LEED Gold Certification, while an on-site cultural center further provides both visitors and locals with perspective into the rich natural and cultural significance of the surroundings.
